  • jamboreeThe Rodeo Jamboree is moving downtown! On Saturday, May 18, KGAS Radio will host its annual Rodeo Jamboree in Downtown Carthage starting at 9:00 am. Jerry Hanszen and KGAS will host a variety of local country artists to provide entertainment. From 9:00 am - 4:00 pm downtown merchants are having sidewalk sales, the Texas Tea Room is hosting a chili cook-off and spaces are available for food vendors, arts and craft vendors as well as garage sale vendors. Any local merchant can set up a booth for free in the downtown area. All other vendors will pay $10 for a 10' X 10' space. West Sabine Street and South St. Mary Street will be closed to traffic to allow vendor setup. From 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Don's Photography will take photos of patrons with the PRCA Rodeo Clowns. All merchants are encouraged to participate in the window decorating contest.

  • showcase logoThe Annual John Ritter Tribute ShowcaseTalent Contest Auditions will be held at the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 9:00 am. Applications and rules can be obtained by visiting the Hall of Fame Website. The top 30 contestants will advance to the John Ritter Tribute Showcase held Friday, August 16, 2013, at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $15 and can be obtained by calling 903.693.6634. Emcee for the evening is Linda Davis. Last year's winner, Taylor Heard will perform along with other Showcase Stars.

Birth/Death Certificates

The City of Carthage has access to birth certificates if the person was born in Texas via online access to the State's computer.  Death must have occurred in the city limits of Carthage for us to be able to issue a death certificate.  Deaths which occurred outside the Carthage city limits must be issued through the Panola County Clerk's Office.  The cost for a birth certificate is $23.00.   A death certificate costs $21.00 for the first one and $4.00 for each additional copy.  In order to obtain a death or birth certificate, it must be for yourself or an immediate family member (parent, sibling, spouse, grandparent, child)  Contact Dana Clark for these services at 903/693-3868, ext. 21.
