Chaplain Dale Reed of Carthage, Texas began his law enforcement work as a Chaplain in November, 1976.  Reed was appointed Chaplain of the Kilgore Police Department by Chief Johnny Bradley and served until 1980.  During that time he received his reserve certification from the East Texas Police Academy.

In 1981 Reed moved to Navarro County where Sheriff Bobby Ross added Reed to his department as Chaplain.   Reed stayed with Navarro County until he moved back home to Carthage, Texas, in 1986.

In 1989 Sheriff Jack Ellett appointed Reed as Chaplain of the Panola County Sheriff’s Office, and in 1997 Chief Duane Baushke appointed Reed as Chaplain of the Carthage Police Department.  In 2011 Jim Vanover took over as Chief of Police and has kept Reed on as a Chaplain with the Department fully supporting the Chaplain’s program.

Dale Reed currently holds these two positions today, along with his newest, being a Chaplain with the Texas Department of Public Safety Region 1.

In 1990 Reed received his full certification from the academy and holds an advanced peace officer’s certificate.  Reed has taught Solo Chaplains Work on a local, state, and national level.
